A Recipe For Making Your Own Healthy Tofu Cheese Cake!

A cheese cake alternative

If you are a cheese cake lover but find it to be a bit heavy, then perhaps you may want to try tofu cheese cake.  I have tried many different kinds, but recently I found a recipe for chocolate tofu cheese cake that is just to die for.  I never thought that a tofu cheese cake would be able to compete with the real thing, but in all honesty I have come to prefer the tofu cheese cake on a regular basis.  While regular cheese cake is a good once in a while treat, tofu cheese cake is something I can eat almost every night.  Unlike some silken tofu desserts, this tofu cheese cake does not taste odd or weird.  I think it is because the chocolate flavour overpowers any tofu taste so all you get is the texture.


The Method

The first thing is to make sure that the crust is ready. You can purchase a store bought crust or make your own. A quick Google search should provide you with a hundred recipes for a graham cracker crust. The only important thing is that the crust is done before hand as some of the steps are very time sensitive. Next take the tofu and drain it between two towels for about 20 minutes. After the water has been drained out blend the tofu with the sugar. I recommend that you take a half pound of tofu with a half cup of sugar at a time.

Blend this mix until smooth and creamy then set it aside in a mixing bowl. While you are doing this you can preheat your oven to 175 degrees. Take and melt the chocolate in a double boiler then fold it into your tofu in the mixing bowl. While doing this add in the additional ingredients. Mix thoroughly then add it to your pie crust. Place the pie in the oven for forty minutes, remove and chill for a couple of hours. Once the pie has chilled you can take any fresh fruit and add it to the top. I prefer to use whatever is in season and I have found that strawberries, raspberries, and peaches all work well.

There you have it, a simple recipe to make tofu cheese cake that you and your entire family can enjoy. The thing that amazed me the most about this recipe was how good and how light it tasted.  Before this I really did not consider tofu cheese cake to be a viable dessert, but now I make it for just about any occasion and my friends and family are amazed.  Hopefully yours will be too.
